LESSON 2 RANKING OF THE CARDS AND DEALING

Welcome to LESSON 2 of the minibridge course. We are starting now! Make sure you have a real card game with you. So you can try out everything you learn.

THE RANKING OF THE CARDS

As an example we take a look at the 13 cards of spades. They all have the same suits symbol, namely ♠. Yet the 13 cards are different. Take a good look. On every corner of a card you see the value of the cards.

Below you can see the suit of spades from high to low as an example.

From hgith to low we have the Ace, the King, the Queen, the Jack, the Ten, the Nine, ... the Two. You have the same thing with the suits of Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs. Some examples:

• Queen of Hearts is ♥Q.
• Nine of Daimonds is ♦9.
• Ace of Clubs is ♣A.

SHUFFLING, DEALING AND SORTING THE CARDS

To get started with minibridge, we need a DEALER. This is the player who is allowed to shuffle and deal the cards Each player draws a card. The player with the highest card becomes the dealer. The next round, the player to his left is the new dealer.

The dealer may SHUFFLE the playing cards. We play minibridge with 52 cards. That are a lot of cards. In this minibridge course we therefore practise with just 24 cards in the beginning

The dealer may DEAL the cards. He gives each player 1 card and this until all 52 playing cards have been dealt. The dealer deals the cards with the back up. He starts with his left neighbor. Each player therefore receives 13 cards.

The player at the LEFT of the DEALER is the first player to receive a card!.

Each player now takes his cards and starts to sort them. This is the sorting the cards from high to low in all the suits. Below an example
